On September 4th, 1971, my parents said "I do". They were 19 and 20 and had met their freshman year at Northeast Missouri State. 40 years, 3 kids and 4 grandchildren later...they're still going strong! To celebrate their big day, we got sneaky and planned a surprise party. It was no easy task keeping the secret from our parents, but it was a fun party to plan. Planning a party with my sister is like doing a group project with someone really smart...you help out, but you don't worry about ...
Wildcat Saturday
Call me cheesy, but I always get butterflies when I hit the Manhattan city limits. You know the part I'm talking about...when you come over the hill on 177 (aka Bill Snyder Highway) and you're overlooking downtown Manhattan. It doesn't matter what time of the day or the year it is...it's magical! And we couldn't have timed it better this trip...when we pulled in with Whit and Adam on Friday night they were setting off purple fireworks just over Poyntz. It was like Manhattan was welcoming us ...
Catching Up: Dallas Love
I'm not sure when I fell off the blogging wagon, but I definitely did. I have a lot to catch up on! Right now we're driving south through Kansas--on our way back to good old Texas. Thanks to aircards and an outlet in the truck, I'll be able to update the blog, upload facebook pictures and maybe even watch a few episodes of Army Wives. I think my mom was trying to get me back for hooking her on FNL when she introduced me to this show! So what's been going on lately? A lot...and I have to ...
Like, Not Love
So remember 3 weeks ago when I said Chris and I were staying in on Friday and tackling this window cornice project I found on Pinterest? Yeah, so that didn't happen…I'm pretty sure we laid on the couch and watched True Blood instead. It didn't actually happen until two weeks later, but that's better than never I suppose! I had two assistants… Number 1: And number 2: It was a pretty easy project for me since Chris did the building, stapling and hanging. I told him that I was the designer ...
Daytrippin’
So Chris got a truck. A really cool, really enormous truck that rides so high I can now make eye contact with truck drivers. That's a downside I suppose, but you get the idea. Anyway, this guy has been like a kid on Christmas for the last week--and I don't see it ending anytime soon. So I wasn't surprised we he uncharacteristically randomly suggested we take a little road trip this weekend. I knew he just wanted to take his new toy out for joy ride and I didn't put up a fight! So ...
Friends & Funny Kids
Sooooo where did I leave off? Oh that's right, Luke. What a cutie. Well there's more where that came from…But first, a shout out to my lady friends :) During my trip home I got to hang out with both college and high school friends. I think living far away from all of these girls makes me realize even more how special our relationships are. Some I talk to weekly and some I only see a couple times a year--but we always pick up right where we left off and I love that. I'm so so thankful for ...
