When I started this little ol’ blog six years ago, the 5 original readers knew pretty much everything about me. Well now that I’ve gained about 5 more, I thought it would be fun to share some random facts about myself. You’re welcome…or something like that???
1. Let me start with something shocking: I don’t drink coffee. I really want to, but I just don’t have a taste for it–even with a ton of creamer. Not to worry though, I’m still getting caffeine. I survived the first year of Nash’s life on Dr. Pepper Ten alone.
2. Chris and I met our senior year of college when his fraternity and my sorority were homecoming partners. We first hung out on Tuesday and by the parade on Friday I told my friends that I was pretty sure he was the guy I was going to marry… 🙂
3. My favorite TV series of all time is Friday Night Lights. Texas forever, y’all.
4. My name was almost Claire, but my Dad vetoed it at the last minute for Vanessa. I think I would’ve made a much better Claire, Dad!!!
5. I’m not ashamed to say that I’ve watched all but one season of the Bachelor/Bachelorette (Byron’s). What will I ever do if that show ends?!?
6. I highlight my hair. Though I was really blonde growing up, I think it would be pretty dark if I went au-naturale now. Truth is, I’ll probably never know what my real color is 😉
7. My parents are the greatest people I know. I never get tired of being around them and would totally love it if they moved in next door to us.
8. In high school I was voted “Most Likely to Become a Sorority President”…and what do you know, I did! I’m not gonna lie, when we found out Arden was a girl my first thought was: “she’s going to be a Pi Phi!” I mean, only if she wants to be……which she will.
9. I only wear heels a few times a year…usually at weddings. Flats for life!
10. I’ve always wished I would’ve grown up in a small town. I think small town life would suit me and I love the idea of knowing everyone–although I know that has it’s disadvantages too! Plus, I already do all my shopping online anyway 😉
11. I would eat breakfast for every meal if I could.
12. In high school my best friends and I met Rick Springfield (you know, Jessie’s Girl?!) We were probably his youngest fans by about 25 years, but we were diehards! We even made him a build-a-bear that said “We love you, Rick”. Totally creepy, right? I’m sure he sleeps with it at night.
13. I only listen to country music. And the Frozen soundtrack, but that’s not by choice anymore.
14. The place I want to visit the most right now is Nashville. (See #13)!
15. After having Arden, I went back to work for one day. Yep…one. I really had planned to keep working, but I knew in my heart that I wanted to stay home with my kids…and it was more than obvious that first day back. Soooo we figured out a way to make it work sooner than we’d planned. Now I can’t imagine it any other way!
16. I was a total tomboy growing up. I wore a different colored sweatsuit to school every day (with white a white turtleneck underneath in the winter months…cool right?) paired with some sweet black sambas. Basically, I always looked amazing.
17. Target and Old Navy are my happy places. I could spend hours (and lots of $$$$) in both.
18. My dream is to build a farmhouse on the outskirts of town one day. Kind of sounds like a country song, huh?
19. When I was two, I was a California Raisin for Halloween. My dad made my costume out of paper mache, and I’m still not completely sure how I breathed.
20. Yoga pants are my jam.
And now you know a little more about me: Claire. I mean, Vanessa. Darn it.
XOXO

Love this!! I've been putting a post together with some random facts! I love reading them and love your blog! You are adorable! I too was a California raisin one Halloween!
Kelly Linn Feller says
So fun reading this! I too could spend hours in Target and I've been watching Bachelor/Bachelorette since the very beginning. It will be a sad day when that show ends 🙁

My brother was a California raison for halloween one year too. I think his costume was made out of trash bags and he had these giant glasses. I always wanted to be a raisin bc I thought it was the coolest. I never was, princess and queen costumes always won. I think I was the queen of hearts the year he was a raisin.

We are totally soul sisters, Claire! ? I think you should come visit me in Nashville asap! I will show you around and we will blast country music the whole way!!

Girl, I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't do coffee. I can't handle the stuff. It's gross. But give me all the Coke! & yay for Bachelor/Bachelorette Mondays! They're a tradition in our house 😛
Amy says
Thanks for sharing a bit more! I love country music, too! Cash loves to jam in the car with me. 🙂 I feel the absolute same way about my parents. Thankfully, my husband does, too! 🙂

We have a lot in common! I don't live in a farmhouse but I do live in the country and order most of my stuff online. I grew up here so it's just what I know. But I wasn't upset when a neighborhood Walmart market opened up 2 minutes from my house. I totally thought your hair was your natural color!! It's a pretty color! Love your blog!

I love these kind of posts! I did one for my birthday last year! I've watched every season but Byron (another weird similarity…have we talked about that already?). And funny you wanted to grow up in a small town…because I did, and though I didn't mind then, I often wish I would have grown up in KC so we didn't have to leave this place and its traditions for the holidays. And, Target and ON lovers unite! Glad to have a friend that understands my love for cheap clothes. One more thing, please don't leave CC to go build your dream farmhouse on the outskirts, mmmmmmmk? Or if you do, build it next to Janner and I'll come visit. 😉

Love these posts and loved getting to know you better! We have a lot of similarities : #5 (almost), #9, #11, #13, and #17 (for sure!)

A California raisin?! That is awesome! And would you believe I have never watched a season of the Bachelor…? (Hides under bed shamefully)
Jess Scott says
Love this!! Our attire was identical in high school…thank goodness there was no FB back then to document it! I'll meet you in Nashville!! It's a place I'd LOVE to visit!
Jess Beer says
I just can't get into the Bachelor or the Bachelorette. It was on for about 5 minutes the other day because we didn't change the channel… and yeah, not for me!
I am glad though that I'm not the only one that had that same thought about my girl being a legacy! I would be over the moon if Abbie was an Alpha Gam too!
Sara McCarty says
Love this! I'm also DYING to go to Nashville! I've never been! Pick a weekend and we can go crash with Natasha! Wouldn't that be a blast?!
Emily says
I LOVE YOU, FRIEND! Claire?!? and I totally made a California Raisin Pumpkin one year!
the girl in the red shoes says
LOVE this! I want to go to Nashville too! And I think when I was 10 I wore biker shorts and a t-shirt every single day to school. I don't know what my mom was thinking letting me wear that!
Jessica says
Great post, just got to know you even more! I'm a Dr Pepper addict, only time I ever gave it up was while pregnant!
Chrissy@SimpleJoysBlog says
Loved reading and learning more about you. 🙂
E Hayes says
love this, and girl I'm your tomboy soulsister. I wore matching leggings and turtleneck, with a solid color champion sweatshirt over that matched my wigwam socks. Later I switched to coordinating Limited Too, LTD sweatshirt with colored jeans, matching plaid scrunchies and yes, sambas.

You can come to my small town for a week! I love going back, but my gosh, the entertainment is slim pickings.
I was such a tomboy growing up, too! My favorite color was blue (though my mom INSISTED my room be mauve), I collected frogs and kept them in our sandbox. I was so weird. HA!
Nashville was my top pick for a blogger meet up this year!! Maybe we can make it happen next year???
Whitney @ Work it Mommy says
I cant drink coffee either! Try as I might my stomach cant hang. And if Im being even more honest, its mostly creamer anyway 🙂 Target and ON for life!

We love Friday Night Lights !!!

I was laughing out loud reading this! That is hilarious about Claire. I could totally see you as a Claire too. Although I see you as a Vanessa as well. I lasted two weeks going back to work before putting in my two weeks notice. I literally cried every day I had to drop him off at daycare…even after I quit haha. Also, I'm with you about breakfast for any meal…def my favorite too!!!!
Jessica Kessler says
Girl we are meant to be friends. We have so much in common! I want to go to Nashville so bad. It's on my list. We jam out to country in the van all the time. I love it. Coffee is yuck to me and people think I'm crazy. Give me hot chocolate over coffee any day. And Target is my absolute fav. My hubby actually told me how much we spent there the month of December and said I needed to be more mindful of what I spend. Ha ha, oops!
Tara Jennings says
Ah I love this idea! Would you care if I stole it? 😉
Vanessa says
Of course not!! Do it! These are my favorite kind of posts to read ?
Brittany says
So random but I was literally just thinking about how you don't drink coffee the other day!!! And can we plan a girls trip to Nashville please? I'm going for my sister's bachelorette party in April. Your sister said it was SOOOO fun and I am dying to go with our friends – even you Claire 😉
Leslie Lukens Martin says
This is A-MAZing! I love love love it…and so many of the points {so many!!} I feel like I wrote myself. Are we the same person?!!? I'm gonna have to do something like this…and don't be shocked if I've just copied and pasted a few of yours {just kidding…kinda}. And P.S. That pic of you and the hubby is A-DORable!
Mateya says
Love it! And you totally could rock the Claire name 🙂
