This past weekend we hosted a “Baby-Que” couples shower for our friends Emily and Jordan. Their little one will be here in less than a month and we are all so excited for the first baby in our Texas family 🙂 We’ve nicknamed him/her “Mervin”, but I have a feeling that Jordan and Emily will be happy to retire that name when the baby arrives!
This theme was such a fun one–and pretty easy too. In case you didn’t see this picture after I posted it on Facebook not once, but twice (yes I’m still trying to get the hang of this Instagram sharing thing! haha), here is some of the decor…
It’s true, everything tastes better out of a mason jar.
Lauren made some amazing sangria and even came up with a virgin version for Emily and me. It was so good and looked perfect in the glasses. Bonus!
Jordan was really excited about their new diaper pail. I can’t wait to hear how the whole “training the baby to go directly in the can” thing goes! 🙂
The grill-master…
Lauren’s gooey peanut butter pie, which we are still enjoying at our house this week. And “M” is for Merv…what else?!
After we were all sufficiently stuffed, we moved on to the shower game. I found this idea on another blog about a Baby-Que and I knew it would be perfect for our guys.
Let’s just call it, “How fast can you chug 4 oz. of beer out of a baby bottle?”
Cheers!
The answer to the name of the game: NOT very fast! Apparently it’s really hard to drink out of a bottle quickly…imagine that! We even caught Jordan trying to milk his bottle at one point, hahaha.
The mom-to-be coaching her husband to a victory…
We ended the night much like many of our get-togethers in Katy–with Catch Phrase. My favorite moment of the game…
Me: “A guy in Ottawa did this” (keep in mind this is Kyle and Laura’s hometown)
Laura: “Put cameras in a bathroom!!!!”
Me: “Well that too I guess. But ‘won the lottery’ was what I was looking for.”
Ahhh, still makes me chuckle!
Here are some other pictures from the evening.
The soon-to-be parents!
The guys…
They’re not exactly normal…
But we are!
It was such a fun night with these great friends. We’re so thrilled for Emily and Jordan and can’t wait for little Merv’s arrival!

I had no idea you hung out with Jordan and Emily! Used to hang with him in college in my Fiji days … 🙂
Party looks perfect!!

Baby-que…What a great idea for a couples shower! Might have to steal that and the bottle game for one I'm hosting in August!
