There is nothing better than pulling into your driveway after a long trip. Actually, there is...it's when you're pulling in after a long trip and your parents are right behind you! My parents had been in Florida for a few weeks, and they planned their trip home to include a visit to Houston. Not exactly on the way, but they spent a couple of days in Baton Rouge as well--doing plantation tours and other touristy things. It was impossible to sleep on my flight home from London because I was so ...
Hello From London Town!
Hello, hello! Putting the old passport to use again this week--this time in London! I left Saturday and got here Sunday morning. Our team got together and headed straight out for a London bus tour. It was a gorgeous, sunny day--perfect for taking in the sights on the top of a double-decker.The London Eye. Next time I definitely want to go up...Sunday afternoon I got to hang out with an old Cerner friend from the London office...Kevin! He was kind enough to show Ellie and I around town and ...
Final Four
One great thing about living in Houston is the never-ending list of things to do. This city gets to host some pretty awesome events…take for instance, the Final Four. Obviously, I'd hoped that Frank and the boys would be playing in it and all of our friends would be camping out at our house…but maybe in 5 years when the tournament comes back here? I wouldn't be complaining if we were still here :)We didn't join in on the Final Four madness until Sunday. Chris, again, was quite a ...
It’s Monday…
I was a little slow-starting this morning. After pressing the snooze button 2 (maybe 3) times, I finally woke up and the first thing I saw was my new phone background. Needless to say, Monday started off with a smile...My dad put it best when he called Will "Humpty Dumpty" :)Thanks goodness my family has embraced technology lately. Daily picture messages and weekly skyping has made me feel so close to my nieces and nephews. Only a couple more weeks until we see them in person though! ...
Another concert, another koozie
By now, you all know that I love country music. Well I love live country music even more. When Josh Abbott tweeted that his band was going to be in Katy on April 1st, I couldn't believe it…a band I love playing 5 minutes down the road? Sweet! So last night I dragged Chris along to Wild River, the new country bar in Katy…yep, Mo's Place has some competition folks! :) It was actually very nice! Brand new and smoke free--you can't beat that. The first opener was a local band that was pretty ...
G’day New Zealand!
Okay, I'm almost done…I swear! We arrived in Wellington really late Saturday night. We didn't see much on the cab ride to the hotel and went straight to bed as soon as we got there. So when I opened up the curtains in my room the next morning, my jaw hit the floor! This picture doesn't even do it justice...After catching up on some work and calling home, Ellie and I headed out to explore the capital city of New Zealand. I'd heard the it referred to as "Wet and Windy Wellington," but we didn't ...
