The only thing better than spending a First Friday weekend in the West Bottoms? Spending it with friends and family, sipping wine, eating desserts and attempting to craft…in the West Bottoms 🙂
This was my second class at The Makery KC–and once again, it did not disappoint. I brought my mom and sister-in-law along for the fun this time (my sister was off rocking the volleyball mom thing)–and we chose the pumpkin decorating class.
Pumpkin, glue gun, wine and muffin. Gang’s all here!
Kristin and Ashley started off by giving us decorating ideas and inspiration. They showed us around the room and helped us get familiar with all of the tools and supplies. (By the way, they recently moved to the top floor of the new Painted Sofa. Ummm, amazing!!!) My mom, Melissa and I decided the first thing we needed to do was to paint our pumpkins cream. Sure, I could’ve bought the pumpkins that color at Michael’s a few days earlier…but that would’ve been too easy 😉 So…first step: paint!
After that point we all kind of did our own thing. Monograms, gold foil, flowers, pushpins, etc. And thankfully, the Makery girls were always nearby to provide instructions or to help stop us from ruining our pumpkins altogether 😉
Here’s what I love most about classes at The Makery…
-They remind me that I have a creative side!!
-I don’t have to do any setup or cleanup…yes!
-There are no distractions other than conversation. In other words, no one asking for a snack or laundry timers going off. None of that!
-I don’t have to have the materials myself. To do all of the things I see on Pinterest, I’d have to spend a fortune on materials. I love just being able to show up and create something cool!
We may have been the last ones there (ahem…orange pumpkins), but I’d say we did pretty good!
If you’re interested in doing a class at The Makery, check out their November schedule that was just announced. I want to make it ALL!
And there’s more 😉 The gals at The Makery have gifted a 50% off any class code for one of you to win!!! All you have to do is enter the rafflecopter giveaway below…and cross your fingers! Winner will be announced Monday!
