The day we’d been waiting for (since football season ended last year), finally came last Saturday…the home opener in Manhattan! I think our little college town is pretty amazing all of the time, but it has an extra bit of magic on game days. I’m so glad our kids get to experience it now!
We got into town on Friday night, just in time for Purple Power Play at the park. The kids jumped in bounce houses, got their faces painted, and ate their weight in purple kettle corn…
The night ended with a pep rally and fireworks…AND some very sleepy children (and mom).
Once everyone was in their gameday gear Saturday morning, I knew I wanted to snap a pic of the kids in the same spot that I did last year. Oh what a difference a year (and a little more hair) makes!!
And of course, there were some outtakes…
Now when I think of K-State football and tailgates, I think of scarves, jackets, and crisp fall air. Why do I always forget that the first couple of games are hotter than you know what? Seriously, mother nature…I just want to put my sunscreen away for the year!
Note to self: don’t forget your shorts next week. SO hot!
Annnnyway, the game was at 1:30…you know, nap time. So we really had no idea how it would go with Nash. (Arden of course ditched naps years ago and could go all day and all night if we’d let her. YIKES.) As it turns out, Nash is a true fan. He was a little sleepy, but he pushed through and did great! The bottomless popcorn may have helped…
I’m not sure Grandma and Grandpa got to watch much of the game because of a certain chatter box on their end…but she sure did have fun!
The cats won big time…and this guy stayed awake (and mostly happy) until we left the stadium. I’ll consider that a win win!
See you again soon, Manhappiness!

What a fun day! That’s so awesome you can now bring the kiddos to games – and I love the picture of Nash eating the popcorn! We are more into the NFL around here and my in laws have season tickets for the Bears and I think this year we could actually take our older two!

That looks like so much fun!! I wish we were closer to my alma mater. We haven’t been back since we moved to Nc, but I’m hoping next year we can take the kids.

I’ve only experienced it a couple of times, but Manhattan is awesome on game day!
Arden’s boots are the best! And Nash’s – oh my gosh, what a trooper!!

I wish we loved college football half as much as you guys because it looks like so much fun!! Seth likes UCLA but he didn’t go there so it doesn’t make it as fun to cheer on and my school is in Northern CA and doesn’t have a football team so we never really got in to it. But seriously, I wish we did since I love all the festiveness and fun you guys have! I especially love your shirt that says “it’s the most wonderful time of the year!” So cute!

Sounds like so much fun! So glad you all had fun. I loved this post and getting a little glimpse of what we’ll get to do next year! Do they do Purple Power Play at the park every year? Is it like a season opener? I’m so excited for when we move there – and post likes these only make it more exciting! 🙂
