When people ask where I’m from I always say “Kansas City”…but the truth is, I live 20 miles outside of the city and don’t leave my suburban bubble nearly enough. That’s why I was excited when Sarah asked if we wanted to adventure downtown with her crew to see some of the KC murals that have been all over Insta lately. Bonus: we got to ride in Sarah’s sweet new minivan. Note to self: next time have the husbands transfer the car seats the night before. Because let me tell you…that was a sight to see!
Our first stop was at 1919 Baltimore. Cutest mural ever? I think so.
The cutest models too…but I’m a little biased.
Don’t be fooled. Nash loves posing for pictures!
Stop number 2 was a legit mural. It was on top of a parking garage by Barkley…and so big we didn’t even know how to photograph it! The kids looked like ants!
If there was ever a picture that nailed their personalities…
“Hey kids, stand by this orange wall and hold hands. But don’t jump in that giant puddle.”
Or do. Thanks Nash.
Also, I love Brantley’s reaction!!!
And you know once one does it…
Next stop was a picnic at the Liberty Memorial. We laughed because Sarah and I packed almost identical lunches for the kids–all the way down to the peanut butter and strawberry jam uncrustables. #momlife
Before heading home we walked up to the memorial and checked out the lovely KC skyline. When I asked Nash if it was cool he said, “yeah”. He was right.
It was a great morning being tourists in our town…AND we made it home before naps! I’ll call that a win!

This is so fun! I don’t get downtown enough either. Didn’t even know these murals existed. ?
Such a fun morning! Kinda sums up our summer!! I love the picture of Nash jumping in the puddle…and then the one of Holden SITTING in it! Thanks for joining us on the urban adventure! Glad you got to ride in the new mini! 😉
Such a fun little afternoon adventure. Love that first mural!
I really want to go take pictures of the library bookshelf garage and I think I will try to find these murals as well!
I’ve been waiting for this post ever since I saw yours and Sarah’s photos! So fun to get out and explore the city. Those murals are the coolest. I love all of the pictures. Especially the one of Nash in the puddle and Brantley covering his face! Hilarious!
These sites are now on my summer bucket list…hoping I can get to visit them in the next couple weeks! What fun picture ideas. Thanks!
Nash splashing in the puddle is hilarious! Such cute kids!
Love those puddle pics! Lol. My kids can’t be trusted if a puddle is in sight either.
So much fun! We have one mural here in town and we always just drive on past, but this past weekend I finally decided that it was time to go take a picture in front of it. I’m so glad that we did! It’s fun being touristy in your own town!
Looks like the perfect morning adventure!
Aw, this post makes me miss home!!
Both the KC murals are my my bucket list for next summer!! Have you been to the library downtown – the one where massive books are painted on the side to look like a bookshelf? That is also one of the coolest walls in KC!
Those murals are so fun! I love all the photos. I wish my kids would pose for photos. 🙂
Those puddle pictures are too funny! What a fun morning for you – and home before nap time makes it even better! 🙂
Seriously KC has the best walls! I haven’t seen anything nearly as cool here. I’m hoping to crash Desiree’s KC trip next summer (she knows, don’t worry lol) and hopefully I can see these awesome walls too! ANNNNND hopefully I can meet up with you and Sarah!
These pictures are the cutest!
Loving all these little photo opps! I always say I’m from Salt Lake City even though we live about 20 minutes away in the burbs. Although I make the drive into the city almost every day, ha!
How fun!! These pictures are the cutest! It’s fun to explore your own city!
