It’s not very often that I’m longing for a weekend to end…but I’m actually ready for Monday, and ready to hit the reset button. Chris was in Nashville all weekend for a bachelor party (and I was majorly jealous, because, HELLO…I want to go to Nashville!), and the kids and I were just in a funk. I really think 4th of July, the late bedtimes, and the copious amounts of sugar finally caught up with us all.
Arden told me for the first time ever that she “wanted a new mom”…and then said several times that she doesn’t like it when I’m “sooooo mean, alllll the time”. Of course, by “mean” she means that I’m not letting her break the rules…but I’d be lying if I said the words didn’t break my heart a little. Goodness, I’m scared for the teenage years!!
The weekend wasn’t all sass and tantrums though. There were some sweet moments mixed in too (thank goodness!). We went to my nephew’s baseball game on Saturday morning, and while Arden searched for roly polies with her cousins, Nash went to town on his first tootsie pop. Let’s just say we left the ballpark a little sticky–and not just because it was 95 degrees outside. I just can’t get over Nash’s chubby little arm propped up on my shoulder in this picture…
There was also a fun birthday party–and lots of Snapchat filters. Pretty sure there’s never been better entertainment…
And one night when we left my parents’ house, there was the most beautiful sky.
Oh and Saturday…Saturday was the best mail day I’ve had in a long time–because this beauty arrived! After I asked for everyone’s opinions on the farmhouse signs, I found this one by Dwelling Space that fit the bill perfectly. I’m just in love with how it turned out!!
Chris is now home, Arden starts a “fairy princess camp” this week (OMG!!!!), and the Bachelorette is back on tonight. All is right in the world!
Here’s to a great week, friends!

Oh girl, I completely understand. What is with the sassy children lately. I’d say there’s something in the water, but we live a ways away. Ha ha! I hope this week is a fresh start for you guys.

UGH. I hate when my husband travels and leaves me behind. I give you props for doing it over a weekend!
Sarah says
Yep. We’ve got major sass going on at my house too! I feel for ya!

You should’ve definitely tagged alone with Chris and could’ve visited me in Nashville! Love the new Farmhouse sign!

Ahhh I am so not looking forward to the “I hate yous” and such. But yes, looking at those sweet photos puts your heart at ease. Love the Snapchat filters so much! And yay for the farmhouse sign.

Weekends like that are never fun. But it sounds like even in the midst of a less than wonderful weekend, you were still able to find sweetness and joy – that’s something that always helps me enjoy those hard days a little more. And I LOVE the sign you ended up choosing!
Kelly says
Oh, I just love Monday because the Bachelorette is on too! It’s kind of embarrassing how happy it makes me 🙂

I feel you on the holiday hangover. We experienced (are experiencing still) the same thing. Thank goodness for getting back into routine.
The farmhouse sign is simply swoon-worthy.
Fairy Princess Camp?! Every little girl’s dream!

Oh no, isn’t it the absolute worst the first time your kids get so upset with you that they say something hurtful? Jacob told me he hated me for the first time the other day and I was SHOCKED. I don’t even know where he learned the word (probably at summer camp) because we never use that word in front of the kids. We had to have a little chat about what it means.
