You didn’t know you were going to get a full dose of blogger exchange recaps this week, did you?! Well I always enjoy seeing the gifts that people get…and hopefully you do too. It’s kind of like the adult version of surprise eggs, you know? (And now I’ve mentioned surprise eggs in two consecutive blog posts…which is SCARY!)
Anywho, when Sarah and Jess asked if I wanted to be part of a “favorite things” blogger exchange, I said: “Duh!” I’ve never been to an actual FT party, but I love the idea and I immediately knew which of my favorite things I would send to the girls I was matched up with. The rules were simple: send something that you love (for $10 or less) to the two other bloggers that were drawn for you. And then you wait for some happy mail to show up!
Checking the mail in our house is quite an event. When Arden sees me pulling up to the mailbox, she immediately starts asking, “do you think I got anything from Grandma?!” Chris’ mom sends her cute little cards every couple of weeks and sometimes a package…and they absolutely make her day! Well, you can imagine that I felt a little guilty when I pulled two packages out of the mailbox and had to break the news that were allllll mine. Okay, so I didn’t feel the guilty…and she got over it quickly. I just couldn’t wait to get inside and rip them open! I guess it just goes to show that kids of all ages get excited about good mail days!
The first one I opened was from Shandy at Happy Meets Home. I met Shandy a few months ago at a KC Blog Guild meetup–and let me just tell you, she’s as cute and as sweet in person as she comes across on her blog. I love her style and have been so inspired by her 10 item wardrobe posts. But back to the gift! Shandy sent an HGTV magazine and a calligraphy pen. Yes! I’ve read the magazine front to back and pulled out several pages for inspiration. There’s just something about flipping through pages that feels so good in a digital world. And what Shandy doesn’t know is that I took a calligraphy class when I was a kid. I don’t remember a darn thing, but I’m excited to watch some videos and give it another shot!
The other package I received was from Jacie at The Fella Life. I just recently found Jacie’s blog and have loved following along with her sweet little family. I always think it’s neat to get a peek into people’s lives in other parts of the country. Basically, I oooh and ahhh over Jacie’s beach and palm tree pictures! 😉 Speaking of oohing and ahhing, that’s what I was doing over these fun, summery bracelet sets too. I mean, come on…I was in love the minute I saw tassels!
Thank you Shandy and Jacie for these sweet gifts! I can totally understand why they’re some of your favorite things!
My favorite thing is something I use every single day (and Arden too!)…and I don’t really know what I did before owning one. It’s the Wet Brush! My mom gave them to us as stocking stuffers one year and I’ve never used another brush since. It glides right through your hair and detangles without you feeling a thing. I actually put it to the test the other night when Arden got ring pop juice in her hair (lovely!) at my niece’s softball game. When we got home I sprayed her sticky tangled hair with water and ran her Wet Brush right through it. No tears whatsoever! I’m telling you, it’s the greatest! And if you have a little one, they have lots of combo packs so you can each have one. (Arden uses the travel size for now and it works great!) Hopefully Lindsay and Missy love their new Wet Brushes too!
Have you ever been to a “Favorite Things” party? If so, what did you bring? A special thanks to the hostesses for organizing this exchange. It was a fun one, for sure! Oh and you can see everyone else’s favorite things by checking out Sarah and Jess’ posts!

I love what you chose as your favorite thing. My sister swears by those brushes. I need to get one for when Emmy is older and gets tangles. I received a package from Jacie too and love the bracelets. I’m so glad you participated. 🙂

Also I saw your snap yesterday about the cap- up until about 2 years ago I got my highlights with a cap too. I miss it! It’s so fast!!!!

I absolutely love the Wet Brush. I bought it for my girls and immediately threw away every other brush! What a great thing to send! XOXO This was a fun exchange!

Such a great exchange! Sad I missed out this time. LOVE the wet brush though. I got one that has a longer handle and bigger head on it too, and it has been so amazing! Great job!

Thank you so much again for my Wet Brush! I was SO excited to see it in the box! It was really like you just read my mind. I’m glad we found one another through the exchange! This was my first one and I’ve already met so many wonderful new ladies to follow along with!

That magazine is THE perfect gift for you and those bracelets are super cute! If you ever want to get rid of them, I know someone about four blocks away that will gladly take them off your hands (arms). 🙂 Also, I still need to try this Wet Brush that everyone always talks about!!
Hannah says
I have heard so many good things about that hairbrush, but have never actually used one. Maybe it’s time for me to finally give it a try. 🙂

So fun! My girlfriends and I did a FT party as a holiday exchange a few years ago. It was so fun! I just picked up that magazine yesterday! I’ve got to pick up a Wet brush.

Those bracelets with tassels are about the cutest things!
And WET BRUSH!! I don’t know how the heck I combed my hair post-shower before that brush!

I’m so the same way with getting mail. Myles always asks and thinks it’s from his grandparents in Illinois. I feel bad but he’s usually a pretty good sport and helps me. Those bracelets are super cute!
