Oh how I love a good road trip. Call me crazy, but I will usually choose driving over flying–as long as it’s reasonable and we have the time, of course. I just like the adventure of driving…and, let’s be honest, I love being able to pack as much as I want. (I know my husband really appreciates this about me!)
On Thursday morning Chris and I left the kids with my parents (saints!!!) and hit the road…destination: Waco, Texas. One of Chris’ best friends was getting married in Austin, so we decided to go early and spend a day in Waco making all of my dreams come true. You guessed it, we visited the silos. The Silos.
We spent Thursday night in a hotel, where I could hardly sleep because I was so excited for our Magnolia adventure. I was up before my alarm went off…ready to shop!
Chris was making fun of me as we pulled up (shocker!), asking if I was going to hyperventilate. Truth is, I think he was kind of looking forward to it too. TIP: If you’re planning a visit, I’d recommend driving all the way around the silos before parking. We almost paid $10 to park in a church lot, but then found a free lot on 6th & Jackson that was just as close.
The store was just as beautiful as I’d expected. From the perfectly styled displays to the gorgeous garden…every single detail on the grounds was so thoughtfully done. In true Joanna fashion!
Even though we got there around the time they opened, it was already packed…and I’ve heard Saturdays can be twice as crazy. The funny thing was though, everyone was just so genuinely happy to be there, that they didn’t seem to mind waiting in line to slowly make their way around the store. I know I didn’t! It gave me more time to take it all in and make sure I didn’t miss a single item that needed to be stuffed in my shopping bag. TIP: We left around lunch time and things were definitely starting to slow down a little bit. You may consider an early or late lunch so you can hit the silos when they’re not quite as chaotic.
Wouldn’t you know that even the Magnolia shopping bags were perfection?!? Canvas, burlap and leather…love! I really wanted to take one home with me! It’s okay though because I was able to take home this Signature Magnolia Wreath that I’ve been swooning over for so long. Life goals, friends. Life goals…
I’ve been saving up for this trip for awhile, so I allowed myself to go a little crazy. As I get things rearranged and added into our decor, I’ll share some pictures of my favorite finds. But you know I got a #shiplap shirt, right? 😉
Chris’ observations of the day:
“I’ve never been to a store where people took pictures.”
“This is your Disney World, isn’t it?” My answer: yes.
I love that Chip and Joanna have made this into more than just a store for shopping. There’s a large green space for yard games and hanging out…and food trucks and picnic tables so you won’t go hungry during your visit.
On the Magnolia Market grounds, there’s also a beautiful garden that showcases some of their darling fairy accessories. Chris’ mom recently put together a little fairy garden at her house and Arden loves it. I definitely want to do this soon!
And you know I couldn’t pass up another Magnolia photo op…
It was such an amazing morning–and everything I’d hoped for. I’m just in awe of Chip and Joanna and the way they’ve breathed new life into the city of Waco. Not only are they transforming houses all around town, but they’re making it a destination for people from all over the world. Just spending a few hours there was inspiring and motivating. I can’t wait to get home and start decorating! …And squeeze my kiddos for about an hour straight. I’ve missed them so!
Before heading to Austin that afternoon, Chris and I hit up Health Camp for salads and protein shakes. Just kidding…it’s an old diner that serves burgers and chocolate shakes. The best health food I’ve ever had!
Thank you Magnolia and Waco for showing us the best time! We will be back!!!
(Girls trip, anyone?!?!)
