Family photos are something to be treasured…I know this. Children grow too fast and seasons of our lives seem to be gone in the blink of an eye. So to have those moments captured by a professional is something special. And as a mom who is behind the camera (errr…phone) 99% of the time, I cherish the pictures where all four of us are together.
I love a good Christmas card photo or a perfectly posed newborn picture…but I have to say that it’s the candid, everyday type photos that are my very favorite. Lucky for us, a few weeks ago we had the opportunity to do a lifestyle session with Megan from Crazy Bananas. Basically we got to hang out at my parents’ house and do the things we normally do out there (swinging, riding the ranger, playing in the playhouse, etc.) while Megan worked her magic with the camera. It was so laid back and FUN! I wasn’t worried about whether or not my kids would cooperate for the “perfect shot”…I just knew that Megan was capturing plenty of real life moments that would be just as special.
Boy, was I right…
I love every single photo we got back and I can’t wait to frame them and put them all over our walls. However, the most amazing thing we received from our session with Megan was this video. I can’t watch it without a huge smile on my face…and happy tears in my eyes. It’s magical to me.
We have so many videos of our kids, but nothing…NOTHING…like this. There are so many things captured in these 3 minutes that I don’t ever want to forget…and now I won’t. Arden’s chipped baby teeth, her skinned knees, and the way she grits her teeth when she’s sneaking up on someone. Her pure innocence and her zest for life. Nash’s toddler walk, the ornery twinkle in his eye, and his potbelly that I’m sure will be gone before we know it. How he wants so badly to be big like his sister. And of course there’s my parents’ land. The kids playing in the playhouse my dad built, the beauty of the country, and the way a ranger ride can calm even the crabbiest of kids. I love that place.
A HUGE thank you to Megan for capturing these precious moments of my family. We will cherish them forever!
