I don’t know how or exactly when it happened, but Arden has become quite the helper around the house these days. And let me tell you, I’m not complaining! Since she doesn’t nap anymore (now that I am complaining about), in the afternoons she spends about an hour quietly playing in her room, then we have another hour or so together until Nash wakes up. Somedays we watch a show or do a craft, but lately she’s been happy to help me with chores around the house. Whether it’s prepping dinner, sweeping the floor, or doing laundry–she wants to contribute in some way. I love it!
Per Arden’s request, last week we worked on folding clothes…and I was super impressed by how quickly she caught on. She told me pants and socks are her favorite to fold. Shirts are hard and are NOT her favorite. Ha!
As we were folding these clothes, the fresh smell got me thinking about how certain scents take me back to different times in my life. The house I grew up in, my grandma’s kitchen, the sorority house that I called home throughout college…they all had their own smells. And I’ll never forget them because they’re intertwined with such sweet memories. For instance, the smell of bacon and eggs on the griddle will always transport me to my grandparents’ house in Iowa. My grandpa in his overalls over the stovetop and my grandma buttering toast, while they listened to a local radio show, waiting for everyone else to wake up.
It made me wonder…will the smell of the laundry we fold or the clothes we wear bring back memories for Arden someday? What scents will take her back to her childhood and bring a smile to her face?
I used to be the kind of person that used fabric conditioner whenever I thought about it–but I didn’t necessarily make it a priority. However, after using Snuggle® Ultra Blue Sparkle fabric conditioner and blue iris bliss® Snuggle Scent Boosters®, I’m pretty sure I will never forget again. The freshness of the Snuggle Scent Boosters® alone is fantastic, but combined with the Blue Sparkle fabric conditioner…oh my goodness, our clothes come out feeling incredibly soft and smelling delightful. It’s the type of fragrance that I could see triggering some wonderful memories for our kids down the road. I also love that the Snuggle Scent Boosters® come in easy-to-use single packs. You just have to remember to follow instructions and pack clothes loosely to ensure the ultimate freshness. (I’m talking to you, Chris! ha!)
You can find both of these at your local Sam’s Club. It’s one of my favorite places to shop because of the value (you get so much for what you pay)…and it’s one of my kids’ favorite places to shop because of what else? The samples. Everybody wins, right? Oh and here’s a tip: you can find some great savings on Snuggle® laundry conditioners in the March Instant Savings Book at Sam’s Club. So definitely check that out before you shop.
So I wonder…will this be the scent that my kids remember? Will it take them back to movie nights snuggled up in our bed, wrestling with daddy in the hallway, or being cozied up reading ‘just one more’ book with me before we turn out the lights? As long as they remember that all of these things were done with love, I’ll be a happy momma.

Okay, don’t laugh but this post made me tear up a bit. There are so many scents that make me think of my childhood and special things. My mom always gives me her perfume bottles when they are almost gone to bring here for when she visits, so she doesn’t have to bring one. Ummm…I have one stashed away so someday (god willing way way down the road) I can pull it out to smell when I miss her. Arden’s sweet face while helping is just precious.

This post is SO so sweet! They say that the sense of smell is the strongest memory recall- so I bet you are right on! 🙂

So sweet that she wants to help! Can you send her to my house next? We’re awful at actually folding laundry over here! There are so many different scents that take me back to childhood especially the perfume my grandmother used to wear, isn’t it funny how we remember certain things.

pst one of the best sponsored posts I’ve read!
I just ran out of my softener so I’ll have to check out this one. Pretty smelling laundry makes folding clothes way more fun…less terrible? Aria likes to help me wash it put it in the dryer and sort it but I haven’t talked her into folding yet.

Any time I smell clove I think of my Grandfather and vanilla my Grandmother. It used to make me a bit sad but now, I think it’s a reminder of how lucky I was to have the years I had with them. I imagine the smell means they are nearby.

The cutest little laundry helper I’ve ever seen! It’s so hard when they give up naps, Scarlett gave up hers right in time for baby brother to come along. To say it was a rough transition is an understatement.
And I’m totally with you on scents bringing back memories. I connect so many things to smell.
