You know that saying “kids say the darndest things?” Well I totally get it now.
Arden turned 2.5 last week, but sometimes I feel like she’s 12.5…especially when she says things like, “shall we do a puzzle now, mommy?” She’s apparently British now too, so there’s that 😉
Here are some of my favorite Arden quotes as of late…
“Mommy, go get Daddy’s Valentine out of the car. He needs it.”
There went that surprise!
“Ta-Da!!!!”
(about everything)
“No boots on the couch!”
My little OCDer in the making.
“I didn’t take a nap because I was saying lots of prayers”
How do I argue with that?
“What you talking, mom?”
Translation: “who are you talking to” OR “what are you talking about”. It’s interchangeable apparently.
“I NEED your phone”
Who cares about food, water, and shelter…she NEEDS to watch someone in China open chocolate eggs.
Everything is happening “omorrow”…or happened “esterday”
Not sure what happened to the t’s and y’s!
Me: “Did you have fun at church today?”
Arden: “I sure did!”
“Ima take my vitamin so I can get big. And when I get big I can use your markers”
I’m actually quite impressed with that logic!
Flamingo = “Fla-fingo”
Armadillo = “Farmadillo”
Picnic = “Pick-a-pick”
“Nice job, mommy.”
I love being praised for buckling her in her car seat!
Me: “Hey sweet pea” (or any other nickname).
Arden: “No, I’m not a sweet pea…I’m Arden Quinn.”
About Nash…
“He spit up.” –she always says this so nonchalantly and then goes on about her business.
“He’s got a booger. Get it out.” Yes ma’am!
Arden: “What’s the noise?”
Me: I don’t know, what is it?”
Arden: “TOOT.” {giggles}
Oh my…
Love this funny little gal so very much 🙂
Ashley @ Words About Waverly says
The CUTEST – this age is so fun … and can be challenging … but mainly fun.
And OMG – she watches the eggs, too?!!!!! What is with these eggs?!!!!!!!!!!!!! Waverly is OBSESSED – she NEEDS my phone (yep, same exact statement) to watch the egg video all of the time! I don't know how she found it or why but she loves it!
Lauren Eberspacher says
Ok I seriously could have written this myself. Nora always corrects me when I call her a nickname, too!! And she even says her whole name!! She is just too cute! What a sweet girl you have 🙂
E Hayes says
So funny, I swear A says almost all those things. I wrote a few down I think back in January, the "I'm not" one cracks me up, she still saying it and always says her full name. And we have fla-ming-go-gos around here. Love the things that come out of their mouths.

I LOVE your daughter's haircut. My daughter seems to have very similar type of hair. Do you style Arden's or does it lay this way? I'm thinking of cutting my daughter's like yours. It's too precious!
Vanessa says
Hi Angela! I usually just spray it with water and comb it in the mornings..nothing fancy! If you have them "stack" it in the back, it should lay pretty well 🙂 Hope that helps!

So so so so sweet!! I love her! The age she is at is just too much fun! And the saying prayers one? I DIE
Colleen Sullivan says

Courtney [Sweet Turtle Soup] says
Adorable! Too funny about the chocolate egg thing, I saw that somewhere and watched it myself thinking….she gets how many views?!?! So weird. I showed it to Aria after and she loved it. So there I go, question answered.
Flamingo is one of my faves for Aria too.

I am SO glad other people's kids love those dumb eggs! My 3 year old loves watching them…he calls them "Batman eggs", because the first ones he watched were batman themed. I don't understand the obsession. At all. 🙂
Kasey Sutgrey says
OMG, this is so funny! My favorite is her nap excuse!!! There is never a dull day with these toddlers!
Courtney B says
Oh my gosh…. Arden is so stinking cute!! Love her little phrases! I'm dying over the napping one! Where do kids come up with that stuff? It's like she KNEW you couldn't be mad about her spending that time praying instead 😉 Cute girl!!
John Fanning says
As usual it's Janel here not John! I cannot wait until my 2.5 yr old little boy can communicate like this! He is getting more and more verbal each week, tho! Arden sounds like she is has a fun little personality! Question for ya: what size is your big area rug in your living room?
Vanessa says
Hey girl! Isn't it fun to watch them learn so much each week? Sometimes I don't know where she learns it! Our living room rug is 8×11…looking back, I kind of wish I'd gone with a 9×12!!
Jenny says
She's such a cutie! Love all her little sayings! What is it with "tomorrow"?! I totally appreciate they are learning some concept of time but everything here is "not today mama, tomorrow." or "give me 1 minute mama." Silly kiddos!
Jessica says
So sweet!! I think I need to start writing down some of the things Everdeen says! She says the same thing when I call her anything but her name…"I'm not a big girl mama! I'm Everdeen!" haha 🙂 Such a sweet time!
Lexie Loo, Lily, Liam, and Dylan Too! says
She is ADORABLE!

I know you hear it all the time, but she really is adorable! I was wondering if you have found/seen any cute Easter dresses for her? My little girl is the same age, and I'm having a hard time finding one:/. You always have her dressed so cute!
Vanessa says
Aw thanks Haley! This isn't a super traditional easter dress, but our church is pretty relaxed so I think it'll be perfect with a cardigan or jean jacket. She's actually going to wear it at Nash's baptism this weekend too 🙂

Thanks! That dress is really cute! I ended up finding Collins a yellow lace dress at Target! I'm just not sure what color sandals go with yellow:/
