Those feelings, in that order, are pretty much what I experienced in the process of planning Nash’s nursery.I knew right off the bat that I wanted to do a farm theme. The challenge was to keep it from being too hokey, or something that would eventually give my child a farm animal phobia. Well, that may still happen…but he’ll get through it, I’m sure 😉 And with Arden’s big-girl room on the horizon, I’ve realized the importance of designing a nursery that they can grow into. Especially with a boy, I don’t want a room that is too “babyish”–only to have to replace it all in a few years. (Don’t tell Chris that I’ll probably want to replace it all by then anyway!!)Interior designer, I am not…but one thing I’ve learned in my decorating journey is that you need a few great pieces to start a room. A few things that make your heart pitter patter. I’m a loser, I know…but for me, those pieces were: the mounted cow head, the tribal crib sheet, the Hank poster (inspired by artwork at our beloved So Long Saloon!), and the antlers we used to tie back the curtains. And probably the boldest decoration of them all–the navy walls.
Once I had all those things, everything else just kind of fell into place. With many late nights scouring the internet…and Mother’s Day Out days spent at Homegoods, Target, and antique store…Nash’s “farm chic” nursery came to life. {Yes, he’s going to love me some day for using the word chic to describe his room! Ha!}
This room is everything I’d hoped it would be and more. I love that it’s rustic and kind of masculine–but still cozy and sweet.
If I ever let Nash leave our bedroom, I hope he’ll love it too 🙂

In.Love. It is absolutely PERFECT!
When we moved I had all these plans for Marcus' new room, and it's basically blank walls and a rug. If you could just be my 'big boy room' decorator that would be fantastic. 🙂

one more thing I LOVE the Hank print! The link is to a 12×18 size. Is that the size of the one in Nash's nursery?
Vanessa says
Hey Janel! So sorry–my sleep-deprived brain totally thought I'd already replied! Anyway, it is a 12 x -8 but I cut the border off on the sides so it would fit into a stars Ribba frame from Ikea. Hope that helps!!

Can I tell you how many times I have visited this page?! I just love his nursery and I am so excited to see your latest creations for Nash’s new room and the new nursery. I tracked down the cow head (or one similar) for my son’s room. It appears to be made of (heavy estate) stone – yikes! Is this one heavy too? My husband is going to be so excited about hanging this one 😉
