It amazes me how many new baby products there are on the market since I was pregnant with Arden just 2 years ago. At a friend’s baby shower last month, I found myself asking multiple times, “wait, what’s that?!?”
Between all of this new gear and our changing needs with 2 kids, we’ve added a few things to our collection of baby “stuff”…
1. Hide & Peek infiniti Nursing Cover – A nursing cover that provides coverage all the way around? Genius! And it’s cute too! I’m all for anything that makes nursing in public less awkward.
2. Lorex Video Baby Monitor with 2 Cameras – We made this purchase a little early because our Summer infant had pretty much bit the dust (I’m still bummed that it only lasted 2 years!!) I’ll try to do a full review once the baby arrives and we’re using both cameras, but so far we’ve been very happy with it. The monitor can scan back and forth in between 2 rooms, but it also has the ability to jump to the room that makes a noise (when in power save mode). This was the most important feature for me because I was worried about not hearing Arden if we had the monitor set to the baby’s room. Now we can feel comfortable that we’ll know if either baby needs us. And yes, I made Chris cry in the nursery multiple times just to test out 😉 Oh and did I mention it’s $150? If you’re not in a hurry, they have 10% off specials pretty often too!
3. Solly Baby Wrap – I am so excited about this wrap! I never found a wrap or sling that I loved with Arden, but it was okay because I had the luxury or holding her any time she needed me. Something tells me that’s not going to be the case with a newborn and a 2 year-old, so I wanted to find a wrap that would really work this time. I’ve heard awesome things about the Solly Baby…and it sure doesn’t hurt that it’s adorable!
4. Fisher Price Snugabunny Swing – Arden wasn’t a fan of the mamaroo, so I sold it on Craigslist (where I got it!) when she was only about 6 months old. This fisher price swing is nothing new, but it gets great reviews…and I snagged in on C-list for $60, pretty much brand new!
5. PRIMO Infant Bath Seat – I think this little seat will be perfect for sink baths, and I’m hoping it’ll allow us to bathe both kiddos at once eventually. How fun is that going to be?!
6. HoMedics Relaxation Sound Machine – For the last 2 years we’ve used an iHome + iPod + white noise app…does that sound like a lot of steps or what?! This little guy makes things much easier! It’s small, easy to pack for traveling, and it’s only $20. I was afraid it might not be loud enough, but it definitely does the job. We bought one for both Arden and the baby.
7. Baby Jogger City Select 2014 – While we’ve loved our City Mini, I definitely regret not registering for the City Select from the get-go. At the time I thought it was too expensive and I wondered if there’d be a better double option if/when we were blessed with another baby. Well, turns out this one is still the best…darn it! A friend tipped me off to PishPosh Baby, which seems to have the best price around for the City Select…and right now they’re running a promotion for a free second seat with the purchase of the stroller. I had already placed my order when I found out about the 2nd seat deal, but since it hadn’t shipped yet, PPB honored the promotion and threw in a free seat. Woohoo! The bargain shopper in me was jumping for joy over that $170 savings!
I can’t wait for it to get here so we can start playing around with it!! {You know you’re a mom when… 😉 }
Well, that’s all friends! Is there anything I’m missing? I’d love to hear your must-haves for baby #2!

We had the swing for Waverly & she LOVED it – way more than the expensive momaroo we had too! 😉

I also wish that I had registered for the city select the first time around! We just made the purchase for baby 2 set to arrive next month. I'm also ordering that baby wrap since I've never found one I liked with my first baby.

I am wearing Luke in the Solly wrap as I type. I absolutely love it!

I had the moby with the first and wore her daily and the moby the second time was just as fantastic. THough I do think the Solly is adorable. I want to try a ring sling too – they intrigue me but I adore my moby – seriously has been my life saver!

For reals. So much new fun stuff! I'm hoping I'm smarter this time around with purchases— buuuut I'm not so sure!! I love that cover… And that wrap! Lex hated wraps- but it's going to be a necessity for babe 2!

We're totally on the look out for a new monitor and this seems awesome!! I can't wait until you do a review with both babes! and the Solly is so gorg. I think we might just reuse our Moby since Rae loved it so much!

Our little guy hated the MamaRoo…but loved the swing you mentioned above! It stopped working about 4 months in (when we were *almost* done with it). My husband called Fisher Price and they 2 day shipped us a new motor! 🙂

Yes! Gotta love that! I've had a couple of FP things break and their customer service has been wonderful!

Oh I love this (good to know about the stroller). I totally ordered the solly when I found out I was preg b/c I think babies just look so cute all snuggled up in them 🙂 And do you think you could do a post on what you're bringing to the hospital?!
Vanessa C says
I agree!! This poor child…I've got plans to wear him in that wrap for the first 6 months of his life 😉 And yes! I will try to do a hospital bag post–just as soon as I figure out what I'm bringing. YIKES!!! Hope you're feeling great, mama!!!

Love my hide and peek cover! We've been debating what to do about our baby monitor situation. I'm not ready to take a camera out of Collins room so we'll have to check this one out. A carrier is hands down the best item for baby #2. I can still use my arms (and carry both at once) and it puts the baby to sleep in .5 sec. I think your set!
Vanessa C says
It's not the fanciest monitor in the world (one downside is that it doesn't pan) but it has all the features we need–and I couldn't find that in any other dual monitor. I'm so excited about this baby-wearing situation…I hope I can figure it out this time!!!

If only we were closer – we should have switched strollers. 🙂 We got the City Select originally but Blaire has almost outgrown it now and doesn't love to ride in the stroller. I found myself wishing we'd gone with the City Mini. But I do love the Select. And the giant basket underneath is great. Hopefully we'll get a little use out of it as a double before Blaire outgrows it. That swing is such a lifesaver! I think your little man will love it! That nursing cover looks great – thanks for sharing! Hope you're feeling well in these last few weeks.

Not sure what you already have but my two must haves (cheap too!) are the Boppy Lounger Pillow and Fischer Price Rock n Play. The Rock N play is what Sterling was in most his first 3 months!!
Vanessa C says
Thanks!! I am going to check out the lounger! Arden slept in the nap nanny for the first few months, but I'm too freaked out to do that again, so we'll definitely be using the rock n play this time. I've hear awesome things about it!!

Hey Vanessa! Hoping that you might do another review of how the gear has worked out for your family so far 🙂
