Houston itself is a pretty fantastic city, but another thing I love about it is its proximity to so many other cool places. I’m telling you, the road trip possibilities are endless!
This past weekend we got to explore one of those cool places–Port Aransas–with our friends and their kiddos. Port A is a cute little beach town about 3.5 hours south of Houston. We rented a house just off the beach and it was probably the cutest thing ever. White-washed everything, a big open kitchen and living room for the kids to run around in…PLUS a secret room under the stairs that they thought was the coolest thing since sliced bread. At one point we considered leaving them there and heading to the beach alone. I’m kidding…mostly 😉
Is there anything better than waking up to your best buds?!
Well maybe some beanbag hugs from one of your best buds… 🙂
It didn’t take us long to make our way to the beach. Actually, I take that back…it takes my family forever when we’re preparing to be outside. Won’t someone just make a sunscreen pill already?! #palegirlproblems
The girls minus Chelsea. She rolled up in her fancy golf cart shortly after 😉
Arden & Hudson just enjoying the sand…
This girl…she’s like the energizer bunny. She just doesn’t stop!
Who believed that telling them to “hold hands and smile” would actually work?!? I’m still in shock!
Henry, Avery, Hudson, Arden & Sawyer…best friends 🙂
These two just hugged their way through Port A. Love it!
I’m not going to get all sappy just yet…but I really love these people…
How cute was our little “neighborhood”?? So beachy!
These two are going to have a long distance relationship pretty soon….but I’m so happy Henry has Kansas roots and we’ll get to see him often!
“We all fall DOWN!”
And when the kids went to sleep, we partied played board games 😉 Catch phrase, Game of Things, Balderdash…they provided some gooooood laughs.

Then of course, it was back to the beach for day 2!
Family pic!
This little sailor girl is OBSESSED with the water. I think she would’ve played in it all day if we didn’t use food to bribe her to come back to the car 😉
Obbbbsessed…
We ended the trip with a fun dinner out on the marina…and a dolphin ride…of sorts 😉
This may have been our last road trip as Texas residents, but I can guarantee you we’ll be back as Kansas residents!!!
Such fun memories made this weekend!

Looks like a perfect beach getaway! I've never been to Port Aransas, but now I want to! I actually haven't done many Texas roadtrips (other than Austin and San Antonio). Do you have any other favorite places that you suggest?
