A new addition to my “Things I love about Texas” list: Antiques Week!!!
Last week my mom and her best friend, Esther, drove all the way down from Kansas to join me for a couple of hot (but awesome) days of “junkin”! If you haven’t heard of Antiques Week (which I hadn’t until last year), it’s basically fields and fields of antiques, home decor, and lots of great junk. As we drove into Warrenton and got our first glimpse of the tents, my flea-market-loving-self was in heaven.
We took Arden with us on the first day, which started out okay…
…and then we had to call for reinforcements (aka Mickey)…
…but it was hot, she wanted OUT of that stroller, and the poor baby had an ear infection that we didn’t even know about. So you can probably guess how this ended…
She didn’t last long, but luckily we’d anticipated that and had taken two cars. So after getting her diaper changed in an old Airstream (how cool is that?), Arden and I were back on the road to Houston. Short-lived, but I knew I was coming back the next day…child-free 🙂
Day 2 started in Round Top: Population 90.
I’m so glad we’d gotten the inside scoop on where to go from a friend’s mom, because this whole thing was definitely a little overwhelming!
But back to Round Top…I think I’m in love with this town.
No really…
And the icing on the cake? The new Junk Gypsy store on the edge of town.
The three of us were like 13-year-olds about to see our favorite boy band in concert…
Which I guess makes this the equivalent of my mom meeting Justin Timberlake or something 🙂
By the way, Amie was just as sweet and Southern as she seems on TV…
After lunch in Round Top, we were back out to the fields to hunt for more treasures.
In the end I didn’t come home with a whole lot, but I had the best time! My finds included some $6 antlers, a Christmas ornament, and a handmade teddy bear for Arden that we lovingly named “Gypsy” (thank you, Gigi)!
Oh and this too…
What a great couple of days they were! I am SO glad that my mom and Esther road-tripped down to Texas to join me…and I’m definitely looking forward to making it an annual thing 🙂
On another note, I was chopped liver from the moment this lady walked in the door.
The love these two have for each other makes me so happy…
Such a fun week!!!

She was 5 months old! I was scared to death going in there but it was not bad at all…she was over it as quick as it happened!
