Hi friends!
Well, the past couple weeks have been a birthday whirlwind FOR SURE! But don’t you worry, we’re back in Texas now and starting to get in the swing of things….errr, kind of. I have to be honest though, I still have Kansas on my mind. So as a tribute to my home state, I hereby dedicate this 5 on Friday to my favorite things about our trip home…
I hope you’ll join my sweet friend Darci and link up too!
ONE.
Manhappiness, The Little Apple, MHK…the greatest place on earth.
Chris and I were able to make it to the first K-State game of the season last Friday and it–was–glorious. Okay, so not so glorious during the last 2 minutes of the game, but it was an awesome day nonetheless.
A day date in Aggieville, tailgating with family and friends, the new stadium expansion, hanging out with the in-laws…all of these things made the 10,000 degree heat worth it.
Our sweet little cheerleader stayed in KC with Gigi & Papa and didn’t miss us one bit. Me, on the other hand? I thought about her the whole time we were there and couldn’t wait to get home and stare at her in her pack-n-play…because I’m a creep like that.
Hopefully next year she’ll get to join us and experience the wonderfulness that is Manhattan, Kansas.
TWO.
Tea Party, Round 2!
I think the definition of crazy might be throwing 2 first birthday parties for your child…but boy was it fun! On Sunday we recreated Arden’s tea party at my parent’s house with all of her aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. It was just as memorable as the first–and bonus, there were no neon green cupcakes! Okay, that’s it…I will never mention the cupcakes again! 🙂
As one of my good friend said, what is Arden going to think when there’s no party in her honor this weekend?!? 😉
THREE.
Family.
I miss these faces so much already.
FOUR.
Friends.
Arden is getting really good at the stair pose…can you tell? She got to hang out with her buddies Evie and Charlie, and also made a fun little visit to see “Grandma T” again–my Pi Phi house mom and great friend.
And the sombreros? That was a mini high school reunion with my best girlfriends. None of us could make it to our 10 year reunion this weekend (OMG, TEN YEARS!!!!) so we decided to get together for Mexican and then watch old drill team videos and drink wine in my parents basement. If that doesn’t scream epic night, I don’t know what does! 😉 We laughed so hard we cried and I may have pulled a muscle trying to reenact some old dance moves. Love these girls and all of our wonderful memories…now I just need to erase some of my 9th grade body-rolls from my brain!!!
FIVE.
My mom.
We talked, we shopped, we ran around like crazy people trying to prepare for the party…we had so much fun together. Arden and I are definitely going to miss our daily Gigi time, but we’re thankful that she’ll be in Texas in less than a month for our first Round Top experience. The countdown it on!!!
And just because I couldn’t leave this picture out….
I love you, Kansas…until next time!
Have a great weekend everyone! 🙂

If you're crazy, I'm crazy with you! We had 2 first birthday parties for J as well. I couldn't stand the thought of all the great-grandparents and extended family not getting to celebrate, so we had a 2nd party in our hometown, too! Ha!!
Arden's "stair pose" is hilarious! She has that down 🙂 Love it!

Oh cheerleader Arden. Stop it. Now!!! That is so cute I can't contain myself. She is precious. And yes she is going to be so confused that there is no party this weekend. If y'all lived anywhere near here you would be coming to my birthday tea party tomorrow!

Okay, y'all deserve an award for throwing the same party in Kansas — I mean, really!! WAY TO GO, MAMA. And yes, now you fully understand the desire to pizza and cake *only* for the second birthday. Haha! So fun, but so exhausting too!
I'm dying over Arden in her cheerleader uniform!! Gahhhhhhhh.
And that last photo makes me want to pack my bags and head for KS!
Hope you guys have a low-key weekend ahead! I'm sure you're worn out!! XO!
