Watching Arden grow over the past year has been nothing short of amazing. Our sweet, skinny, little 7-pounder who slept all day, somehow transformed to a scrumptious 23-pounder, full of personality…and rolls.
When I showed this collage to my husband, his first response was: Aren’t you glad you gave birth to #1 and not #12? Well yes, I guess I am 🙂

Like I mentioned before, my parents drove down from Kansas on Monday and spent the week hanging out and helping us prep for the party. Like I’ve also mentioned before, my parents are the greatest and I am still devising a plan to get them to move to Texas…and to live next door to me 🙂
Arden was pretty excited about Gigi & Papa’s arrival too…
I told my mom not to take it personally…Papa is way easier to say! Ha!
Chris’ parents got into town on Thursday night, which meant the celebration could officially begin! Everyone was here in the morning when the birthday girl woke up…I think she was a little surprised by the audience outside her bedroom door…

….and even more surprised by her first powdered donuts.
What are these things?!
While Chris was hard at work, we took the birthday girl to the Houston Zoo for a blazing hot
morning of fun.
She took her first carousel ride…
Pet her first goat…
…and made a very dramatic exit, I might add.
But mom, I just want to play with the goats all. day. long!
But a little cooling down under the mister and she was good to go!
All in all, it was a fabulous birthday at the zoo…
We ended Arden’s big day with none other than Mexican food. For one, we’re kind of obsessed with Mexican…and two, they sing to you on your birthday. Done and done! Oh and if you follow me on Instagram, you know we went to another Mexican restaurant on Sunday–and may or may not have told them it was her birthday…again. Let’s just say, Arden is no stranger to a sopapilla 😉
Yummmm…
This day with family was the perfect way to celebrate Arden’s 1st year…but of course it didn’t stop there. Birthday party deets on the blog very soon!

Precious! We love Mexican too!
Such a fun first birthday!! Seriously donuts, grandparents, the zoo, and Mexican?! If I come out for my birthday can we spend it the exact same way?
