Alright, I’m calling it…
this playroom is open and ready for business!
It may have taken FOUR months to complete, but I’m glad we didn’t rush it. Sometimes I get an itch to “finish” a room and I just start buying crap things that I don’t really love…then inevitably I’m ready to redecorate a few months later.
While I’m sure the room will still change and evolve a lot as Arden gets older, I think the basic pieces are ones that we’ll be happy with for awhile. And the best part? I sold the furniture that was originally in this room (not pictured because I failed and forgot to take a true before pic) on Craigslist, and made enough money to cover the majority of the new stuff. All those hours of watching Design on a Dime has finally paid off! Thanks HGTV 😉
So without further ado, here’s a peek into Arden’s fun new space…
This activity wall is my favorite part of the room. It has a magnet board, mirror, chalkboard and a height ruler that my dad made. Hidden in the closet to the left is a bottle of Windex for cleaning tiny fingerprints off the mirror each night 🙂
True story.
That chicklet smile. I die…
So I’m kind of obsessed with the Expedit bookshelf from Ikea. I love that you can use bins or drawers–or just leave the cubbies open. The only thing I added was a piece of fabric on the backside to cover the cords from our electronics.
I’m also a big fan of these felt toy bins. They’re cute and injury free…perfect for a rough and tumble baby who literally likes to roll over them.
This wall makes me happy…
I asked Arden what she thought of her new playroom and this was her response…
But seriously, I think she likes it… 🙂
And Hazel? She takes her job of covering the rug in white dog hair VERY seriously…
It makes me smile to picture Arden as a toddler, serving up delicious meals from her play kitchen, doing puzzles on the floor, or snuggling next to me to watch a movie. We are going to play our hearts out in this room and I CAN’T WAIT! 🙂

I love the Ikea storage piece, did you get the white or high gloss white finish? Also what did you use for the backing?
Vanessa says
It's just the plain white and I used sticky foam to attach a piece of burlap fabric to the back. I didn't want to see the TV cords hanging down in the back!
