When I was growing up we had a lot of Christmas traditions in our house.
One example…every year we would string popcorn and cranberries together to make garland on our tree. One time my sister found two berries in a row, called it a double berry, and laughed hysterically. All on video tape for our family to watch year after year. Guess you had to be there? 🙂
Although Arden is too little to understand double-berries and the other traditions we might start this year, next year will be a whole different story. She’ll “help” us decorate the tree and hang the stockings, we’ll write a letter to Santa and leave it by the fireplace with cookies, milk and a carrot for the reindeer. She’ll also experience the magic of Christmas through books.
One of Arden’s gifts this Christmas is a book that I think will be very special to her in the coming years. ‘Twas The Mouse Who Saved Christmas is the most adorable book about a little mouse, Pipp Squeak, who accidentally rips a child’s name from Santa’s list–so she does everything she can to get it back on the list and save the child’s Christmas. The best part is that each book is personalized, so Arden is the star of our book–which I’m sure she will think is the coolest thing ever next year!

I am so excited for Arden to experience the holidays and the magic that surrounds them. I remember exactly how I felt when I believed in Santa, his reindeer and his elves…just ask my mom…at 3 years old I packed up my bags and regretfully told my parents I was leaving them to go live with Santa in the North Pole and be an elf. No joke. Talk about taking “believing” to a whole new level 🙂
I just wanted to share this great book in case any of you were looking for Christmas ideas for the little people in your lives. You can order one here–just make sure you do it before December 12th to get it in time for Christmas! I also found out that the illustrator, Brad Sneed, will be doing a reading of Following Featherbottom (also adorable!) at Pottery Barn Kids on the Plaza. So Kansas City friends, go check it out on December 9th at 3:00…word on the street is there might be some discount on ‘Twas the Mouse Who Saved Christmas too!
Here’s to good books and new traditions! Happy Sunday 🙂
