Arden,
10 weeks old today…can you believe it?!
It’s been another fun-filled week (as you can see by the length of this post) and it started off with a visit to KC. We had this trip planned even before you were born because it’s one of the best weekends of the year…Luke’s birthday party! And this time, it actually fell on Gigi’s 60th too…so how could we miss it? 🙂
Papa planned a big surprise for Gigi…a hot air balloon ride that landed on their property, followed by a party with all of their friends. Unfortunately, it was a little too windy for the hot air balloon but Gigi was still very surprised by the party. That Papa Fred..what a guy!
Happy 60th birthday to the best mom in the world. Someday Arden, you will know how lucky you are to have her as your “Gigi” 🙂
Here’s a picture of the two of us. I was extra happy after just finding out that I’ll be able to go back to work part-time in December! That means Tuesdays and Fridays are our days, little girl!!! 🙂 I’m so thankful that I work for a company who will allow me to do this!
You and the birthday lady. She loves you so much!
The next morning we played dress up with some of my old winter accessories. Some things just never go out of style I guess? 😉
And you had some tummy time entertainment from Mr. Luke…
Then it was time to get ready for the big party. Luke chose a cowboy theme, so we brought out your overalls and boots again. Sorry, forgot your bloomers…whoops!
Have I mentioned how much I love you? 🙂
And so does sweet Norah.
You also got to meet my wonderful cousin Lindsey and her little ones. It’s pretty obvious that you liked her!
Check out Luke’s cake. So cute!
He got a new bike helmet from Gigi and Papa…
And something pretty awesome from his parents.
What could it be?
His very own dune buggy! Hey, maybe he’ll take you for a ride in a couple years??
It was COLD that day, so we stayed inside and watched K-State beat Tech (Woohoo!)…but there was lots of fun going on outside.
Including a bounce house!
Funny Luke story: Earlier in the week he asked his mom, “Is Arden going to bounce with us?” Melissa said, “No, she’s not big enough yet…but someday she will be”. He thought about it for a little bit and said, “I remember that when she was at Gigi and Papa’s house she was growing so I think she will be big enough this time.”
Maybe next time? 🙂
There was also a spooky playhouse…
And a chilly hayride…
It was such a great day. I can hardly wait until next year when you’ll be toddling around and having fun with your cousins!
Sunday started off great. When I came down from taking a shower I found this…
You just don’t get enough attention, I tell you!
Then we headed towards the plaza to see all of the Calcaras. You hadn’t met any of the extended family, so your dad and I were excited to show you off.
You had another plan, however 🙂
I blame the traveling and minimal naps for the fact that you spent a good part of our time there crying. You just weren’t yourself. I know everyone with kids understands this, but I have to say it was pretty stressful. I just wanted everyone to see your sweet and playful personality! Christmas? Maybe? 🙂
At least you looked cute though…and I think your grandpa would agree.
You may have had a bad day, but it was still good to see everyone. Can you imagine how much fun you’re going to have at Hog Roasts with these two and little Hank?!
Monday morning was an early one, but apparently that is good for flying…you slept pretty much the whole way home. The man sitting next to us and a stewardess actually said you were “the best baby they’d ever seen on a flight”. Add that one to your resume!
Oh yeah, you’ve been doing something new this week…
Pretending that you want to roll over. Either that or you’re going to be a contortionist??
I think you should hit a few other milestones before we get to rolling over, but whatever…I won’t stop you!
Are you still with me? I’ll wrap this up with your first Halloween!
I have to admit, I kind of feel like the worst mom ever for not getting you a costume. I decided that you looked so cute in your Halloween “outfit” that you didn’t need a costume at 2-months old. Then I looked on Instagram…and Facebook…and the news last night…full of infants dressed up in darling little costumes.
So, my first of many mom “fails”. Next year I’ll make it up to you with an awesome costume. Promise!
Come on though…how cute did you look?
We had a great time with you friends Nora, Henry, Avery and Carolina. Pizza, candy and cute babies. You just can’t beat that!
Thanks for another great week, sweet girl. Your dad and I love you so much!
xoxo,
Mom

Love this post!!! SO much fun for just one week – no wonder she was so tired during the flight on her way home 🙂 And YEAH about working parttime….that is such great news and will be such a great balance I'm sure!!!!!!!! Can't wait to see you again, wish it was sooner rather than later, but I guess we'll have to be patient! Facetime soon 🙂
