Remember when I started doing these posts 24 weeks ago? First of all, I’m so embarrassed I posted that picture thinking I was showing a little bit. What?! Was I sucking in? I had to have been sucking in…
I’ve actually been doing this journaling weekly and making a scrapbook with all of the pictures. It’s been neat to look back on already, so I think it will be really cool to read years from now and get a glimpse back into this special time in our lives.
And a special time it has been. If you would’ve told me a year ago that I’d be in my last week of pregnancy at this time, I would have laughed in your face…and then I probably would’ve sobbed. Let’s just say this was a highly emotional time in my life 🙂 It was hard to imagine that I could even be pregnant–let alone have my body to do what it was supposed to for almost 40 weeks. But here we are…days away from meeting our little girl and feeling so, so blessed.

How far along: 39 weeks
Size of Baby C: 7 lbs, 20 inches
Fruit/vegetable comparison (according to Baby Center): A mini watermelon.

Total weight gain: 18 lbs.
Sleep: Not too bad. I keep telling
myself to sleep because I won’t have that luxury here pretty soon…but I’m just too
anxious and excited!

Movement: It’s definitely starting to get a little tight in
there as her big movements are sometimes painful. But the best part is
when we can make out her little feet or bottom. It’s still hard for me to believe—this
is a REAL baby and she’ll be here soon!

Unglamorous body changes: Nothing stands out right now…but
ask me again in a couple weeks. I’m sure there will be plenty then 🙂

Maternity Clothes? This week
my doctor was talking to me about when we go to the hospital and she said, “don’t
get dressed up—just be comfortable”. I
laughed and told her no problem…comfortable is all I have.

Showing: I’d say so…however, the girl at the front desk of
our gym asked me yesterday if I’d had my baby yet. Um, I hope I don’t still look like this after I’ve
delivered!

Food cravings: The queasiness of my first
trimester has been coming back now and then, so I’ve definitely been eating
more crackers and carbs.

What I miss: Nothing really. I think I should probably adopt all
of these pregnancy habits in my everyday life. I feel great without pop, alcohol
or medicine. Okay, so I’ve had a couple Dr. Pepper 10’s lately…shhhh.

Strange experiences: Buying milk that expired after
our due date and thinking I should have a baby in my arms by then! Also looking in the mirror and realizing I wouldn’t be pregnant a couple weeks from now. I always thought people were making it up when they said this, but a little part of me will miss being pregnant. I guess I’m just going to have to share her with the rest of the world.

Milestones: She’s just continuing to fatten up this week. She’ll
need that layer of fat to control her body temperature after birth.

Best moment this week: Realizing that we are ready. Our bags are packed, her clothes
have been washed, the house is clean…ready when you are little girl!

Looking forward to: Hopefully our last weekend as a
family of two. We’re definitely trying to make the most of it!

Do something crazy this weekend like eat a meal that requires the use of both hands or go to the store on a moments notice with just your wallet and phone. And sleep!

That's so funny about the milk! Last month I bought milk that expired on our baby's due date and thought the same thing…except then she was two weeks late haha! It's so exciting that you'll get to meet your baby girl very soon!
i miss being pregnant too! a friend of mine told me once, "i prefer being pregnant. the baby is so safe and cozy inside. nothing can harm it…and everyone fawns over you. then when the baby comes, everyone forgets about you and only cares about him/her."
by the way, i had a dream last night that y'all were talking to us and accidentally said the name in casual conversation. it was paige 🙂
So excited for you! I miss being pregnant too. Now I have a wild nine month old. It changes so fast.
