In case you’re ever looking for a gift for someone with little ones, I thought I’d share what my mom got us girls for Mother’s Day. Yes, I’m capitalizing on this holiday before I’m even technically a mother 🙂
I won’t be putting this to use for a few years, but it will be a great thing to have when that time does come. I can’t tell you how many times my nieces or nephews have said something hilarious, crazy or creepily smart…and we’ve all said that someone should be writing it all down. So now Lindsay and Melissa will be able to keep track of all the hysterical things that come out of these kids’ mouths!
Here are some recent stories, which I considered writing in my own book but decided that was probably going a little overboard…so instead I’m blogging about them to keep track 🙂
This past Sunday we were sitting on my parents’ back porch and my mom asked Luke, “Do you remember what Aunt Vanessa has in her tummy?” He thought carefully and then responded with, “A grape?” Sadly, this was a really good guess because I am addicted to grapes. Oh Luke!
My sister called me this morning to tell me a story about Norah too. When they were driving to Maren’s soccer practice the other day, Norah said, “Hey this is the way to Texas, Houston (she and Maren always get it mixed up and it’s so cute).” Apparently they were on a road that they rarely take and it actually was they way they drove when they came down for Thanksgiving. Pretty observant, huh? Anyway, she went on to ask when they were going to go back to Texas. Lindsay told her she wasn’t sure but maybe soon. Norah’s response was, “And when we go back, we’re going to have a new baby sister!!!” Hahaha…well close, Norah. That story has kept me smiling all day long 🙂
I should probably also mention that Chris got me a Mother’s Day gift too. He knows me too well…
We have a date with Kenny and Tim on August 4th and I cannot wait!
Well that’s all I’ve got for now. Time to get the meatloaf out of the oven. I’ve never cooked meatloaf in my life, which would probably explain why I was gagging as I made it. Have you ever seen that stuff before it goes in the oven?!? Nasty. Let’s hope it tastes better than it looked!
