Well, it’s that time of the year again. Basketball season is over (at our house anyway)…and there are a little over five months until football starts. In the words of Kyle Huschka, it’s time to “hunker down” folks. Last year he warned us that this was the time when it was hard to live in Houston…it gets really hot, you miss your families, and there are no K-State sports to entertain you.
We started talking about this yesterday at the Siegel’s St. Patrick’s Day party, and it got me thinking…how are we going to hunker down this summer? 🙂
The plan…
Pool Time: I was never much of a pool-goer in Kansas, but it really is a way of life during the hot Houston summers. Our neighborhood has something like 8 pools to choose from, and I plan on making the rounds again during the coming months.
Trips: Kansas City, Great Bend, Florida, Kansas City, Ozarks, Iowa, and KC again. Babies, weddings, showers, reunions…they’re all going to keep us very busy! I can’t wait 🙂
(For some reason google still thinks we live in St. Louis)
Sugar Land Skeeters: The city of Sugar Land (just south of Katy) is getting a minor league baseball team, and I’m hoping they might be able to help fill the void left by not having any K-State sports to watch. I’m not the biggest baseball fan but I am a fan of the atmosphere at a ballpark. Give me a soft pretzel and some between-inning entertainment, and I’m good to go.
Reading: Weather and humidity permitting, I plan to spend more time on our patio this Spring and Fall. Lord knows I have a lot to read and learn about before August, so why not enjoy it outside?
When I started writing this I had about 10 things in mind…but now I can only remember 4. Oops. Hopefully our summer is more of a 10 than a 4 though!
Other suggestions for surviving the summer are welcome 🙂
Lastly, we had a great time celebrating St. Patty’s Day on Saturday, but I managed to take only three pictures the entire day. Chris and Kyle festively decorated each others’ shirts (don’t ask!)…
And Hazel made a new friend.
Despite that cats losing, it was a fun day!

OMG, did you transport Franklin to Houston? 🙂

I know! And do you want to hear the weirdest part about it? His name is Franklin too!
