Remember when everyone you knew had AOL? Oh those were the good old days! The anticipation would build as you listened to the screeching connection noise for about a minute…and then if you were lucky you’d hear “You’ve Got Mail”. Yes! And if you were me in 7th grade, you were signing on every 20 minutes to see if your boyfriend had responded to your breakup email. What can I say, I’m a chicken. Oh and what about instant messenger? One of my favorite things to ask people our age is what their screen name was. You really learn a lot about a person. Vana686 here. How embarrassing is that?!? My best friends were shorti5212 and angie2577…and my new boyfriend was ibanez followed by some numbers that I can’t believe I don’t remember. I pretended for a long time that I knew that was a type of guitar. Duh!
Anyway, the whole reason I started writing this post was because I realized that times have changed. In a world that runs on e-mails, I love getting snail mail so much more. Most days we get nothing but junk mail, but some days I get lucky…
Nothing makes me happier than a personalized drawing from my favorite Carter kids. There’s a pretty funny and extremely adorable story behind this one too. My sister said Maren was coloring this picture and then all of the sudden she heard the door open and close–Maren had come back in with the mail. Lindsay told her she couldn’t just do that without letting her know. Then Mike comes in a little bit later and said he found the drawing in the mailbox. Maren thought if she put a stamp on the corner and put it in the mailbox, that it would make it to me in Texas. How sweet is that? Just makes me smile 🙂
I can’t believe that both of our entire families are going to be at our house in a week and half!! I can’t wait to spend a good quality week with family and host our first Thanksgiving. Good thing I’m going to have plenty of help in the kitchen!
