Call me cheesy, but I always get butterflies when I hit the Manhattan city limits. You know the part I’m talking about…when you come over the hill on 177 (aka Bill Snyder Highway) and you’re overlooking downtown Manhattan. It doesn’t matter what time of the day or the year it is…it’s magical! And we couldn’t have timed it better this trip…when we pulled in with Whit and Adam on Friday night they were setting off purple fireworks just over Poyntz. It was like Manhattan was welcoming us back after a year away! Turns out it was really Purple Power Play, but whatever!
We stayed at the Clarion, because old Holidomes are the best ever. Don’t you just love walking out of your room to the smell of chlorine? Ah, childhood 🙂 After checking in, we headed straight to the Ville…first stop, Rock-a-Belly. We got a spot on the patio 10 minutes before the kitchen closed…I guess you could say the stars were aligned! We filled up on RAB goodness and headed to the bars. For the most part, things were the same…except for Pat’s renovations (just not the same)…and this crazy new dance floor at Kite’s. What???
After a great night, Game Day came quickly. We put on our purple and headed out to the Bill. I realize I am extremely biased, but I don’t think many places can compete with K-State when it comes to the tailgating atmosphere. So much purple…you just can’t help but love it!
We started the day off with some Bag-O before venturing over to see the Moore’s and Winchell’s…then back over to the always fun Beaver Creek Social Club!
Sweet little Owen was quite the ladies man and it was so fun to spend some time with these gals!
Then it was game time…
It was a pretty sorry game until the last minute, but hey, a win is a win! Let’s hope Bill gets after the guys during the bye-week and they come back to play against Kent State.
While the football could’ve been better, we still had a great time with Chris’ parents!
After the game we made one last trip to Aggieville…and it was so worth it because I got to see my long lost love, Katie! I sure do miss working with this crazy girl and I wish she would update her blog so I could keep up with Koester life. Just saying 🙂
And of course, a weekend in Manhattan wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Hunam. Chris is convinced that the owner remembered his usual order. I’m not sure if that is impressive or just plain sad!
Well, thank goodness football is FINALLY back! Until next year, Manhattan…
Oh and in case you’re keeping track, we’re driving through Oklahoma now 🙂
