By now, you all know that I love country music. Well I love live country music even more. When Josh Abbott tweeted that his band was going to be in Katy on April 1st, I couldn’t believe it…a band I love playing 5 minutes down the road? Sweet!
So last night I dragged Chris along to Wild River, the new country bar in Katy…yep, Mo’s Place has some competition folks! 🙂 It was actually very nice! Brand new and smoke free–you can’t beat that.
The first opener was a local band that was pretty good…not to mention, they bought everyone a beer for getting there early enough to see them! The lead singer of the second band looked exactly like Dikeman. You really can’t tell from this blurry picture, but the resemblance was uncanny people!
Then finally JAB came on. I was a fan before, but now I’m hooked! Texas country at it’s best.
And once again, more proof behind my theory that “name” bands are always legit 🙂
If you’ve never heard of the Josh Abbott Band, watch their video “She’s Like Texas”.
And listen to “Oh, Tonight”. I sometimes put this on repeat for hours at a time while I’m working. So stinkin’ good.
Other favorites are “Evil Woman” and “Taste”. Okay, I’ll stop now. I can just see Chris rolling his eyes like he always does when I force him to be quiet and listen to my most recent favorite songs. I’m pretty positive he likes them all too…he just thinks it’s his job to pretend like he doesn’t 🙂
Oh, and did I mention he bought me a koozie? Whata guy.
There’s more live music on the agenda for tomorrow. Two of my all-time faves, Pat Green and Kenny Chesney, are part of a FREE Final 4 concert downtown. Life is good in Texas!

Sugarland is as good as it gets here lately… and all the tix were sold out when I tried to buy them. Damn!
