Hello again. Australia is a big country…big enough for 2 blog post apparently. And I didn’t even leave Sydney!
Free day #2 was quite possibly my favorite day of our time in Australia. We’d done a lot of research to prepare for the trip but had only committed to one tour ahead of time: The Southern Crush Wine Tour. Best. Decision. Ever. I had come across their facebook page full of amazing reviews, so I decided to email the coordinator to see if we could still get in. First of all, his name was Shamus. How could this tour not be good?! (And yes, it took everything I had after multiple glasses of wine not to call him Shamus O’Toole or tell him that he shared his name with Molly’s dog. There were a few close calls though!) Anyway, he typically does corporate tours, but was nice enough to get a group together to go out with us.
Lesson #2 of the trip: When you load pictures on to your computer, don’t forget to put the memory card back in your camera. Or prepare to leave your nice, big camera in the van while you snap pictures with your iPhone. Heartbreaking!
However, life goes on. I still had an amazing day tasting and learning about different wines…and taking in all the sites of the Southern Highlands (aka the most beautiful place on earth).
We stopped at all boutique wineries, where we did the tastings with the owners themselves…
Cheesy vineyard pic…
For lunch we stopped at a quaint, adorable little town called Berrima. I could definitely retire here 🙂
Oh wait, I can’t retire here. An 1870’s shack cottage for almost $400,000. I guess I should’ve known when Shamus told us Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban had a home there.
I’d say it was a pretty successful day 🙂
Our final day in Sydney was spent walking around the city one last time with one of Ellie’s friends whose trip overlapped.
A street market…
