28 hours. 4 friends. 2 basketball games. So, so, so much fun.
This past weekend Brittany and Jimmy made their way down to Houston for a quick weekend trip! In order to make the most of our time together I did something completely OCD…I made an hour-by-hour itinerary. I know what you’re thinking…psy-choooooo. I agree, but when you’re new to a city yourself and you have a short period of time, it really helps to have something to go off of. So after picking Britt and Jimmy up at the airport, we headed to Central Market for some lunch. I had my first CM experience at Erica’s shower in Dallas and fell in love. It’s a grocery store on steroids (except probably not since it’s all natural, ha)…complete with dining on the patio and live bands on the weekends. It was delish!
Then it was on to mid-town for the KU game. Yes, you read that right…Jimmy is a diehard KU fan, so we thought it was only fair to let him cheer on his jayhawks as they took on Iowa State. I can honestly say that I didn’t watch 10 seconds of the game though…instead Britt and I took that time for some girl talk. Speaking of, anyone remember that game?? It was my sister’s and I never actually played…I just looked at the guy cards and stuck the zit stickers to my face. Anywho, I digress.
Here’s Jimmy. Excited for the game, not knowing that 2 days later his #1 team would fall to the cats. Sorry Jim, I just had to!
Friends 🙂
He likes beer.
Is it just me or do these look like engagement pics?
Jayhawks and Wildcats can be friends…
After the game, we headed home to see little Miss Hazel and show the Carter’s our new house. Then it was time to, what else, eat! Jimmy wasn’t terribly hungry, so he opted for just 2 slices of pizza. Seems like the waiter should’ve warned him…
Then it was back to our casa to meet some friends for the K-State game. Everyone of us was jumping up and down screaming after Rodney’s buzzer shot…and I wish we would’ve just turned it off right then and gone on with our night. Absolutely heartbreaking!
At this point we needed a pick-me-up…Mo’s Place anyone?
Much like Cypress Saloon, where we went last month, Mo’s is a good old country bar with live music. They’ve had some pretty big names there before, but it was just a local cover band on Saturday and they did not disappoint. Not to mention the people watching was out of this world! When we walked out I told Brittany it reminded me of a country version of Orlando’s. For my Olathe friends, you know exactly what I’m talking about!
Some pics from Mo’s…
To finish off the weekend, we slept in on Sunday and then ventured south to Rosenberg, Texas. I had heard so much about Bob’s Taco Station–it was time to go find out what all the hype was about. All I can say is Holy Tamale! I’d never had a tamale before, but they are sooooo amazing at this little hole in the wall place. So if you ever come to visit us, just know that Bob’s will be on the itinerary 🙂
Well, that’s all folks. Check out Brittany’s blog soon because I’m sure she will have a recap that’s a thousand times better!
Now if only I could talk them into moving down here! I found a house on the next street over that would be perfect for Milly, Willy and Toby! 😉 Love you guys!
