Yep, I have camera envy…big time. I think it started after working with the fabulous Rebecca Peters for our wedding…and it’s continued ever since because I look at her blog and Ali’s blog daily. It just amazes me how much a picture can capture–especially a good one!
So this year I told Chris that all I want for Christmas is a new DSLR camera. I’m pretty sure I’ll never be a pro, but I just want to be able to capture pictures the way I see them…and maybe pick up a new hobby. I’m not sure if anyone else feels this way, but my regular “point and shoot” pics just never do justice to the subject of my photo. I always tell Hazel “don’t worry, you’re so much cuter than that in real life”. I may or may not have said the same thing to myself a few times too…
Anyway, I’m looking for advice from all you photogs out there. What’s a good starter camera? I plan on taking pictures of some really cute kids (Maren, Norah, Luke and baby Carter #3), little miss Hazel, pretty Midwestern scenery, and some house projects to post up on the ol’ blog. Oh yeah, maybe I’ll even catch Chris mowing the yard in his high socks. It’s a treat, let me tell you…

I think if you get any Canon or Nikon DSLR you'll instantly see the difference in your pictures. You are going to have so much fun!

I'll send you a message via FB with my thoughts coming from a complete amateur:). It will be a storybook if I do it on here.

We have a Nikon D40… but we just got it as a gift without doing any sort of research at all… I think it is the lowest of their professional cameras. We are wanting some additional lenses, but overall have been really happy. They definitely make such a difference in your pics. They are just a pain to carry around.

I have a Canon Rebel and it's amazing and fool proof even for people who don't know much about photography (me :)). I think you should get one, you would love it! It makes all the scenery pics better and it makes people and dogs look so much cuter!
