The first house I ever owned was a cute little shoebox (literally, it was like 800 square feet) in a charming old neighborhood with lots of big trees. The owner before me had amazing style and I remember feeling like I had stepped into a magazine the first time I went through it. Of course, when I bought the house and she moved out, she took all of her beautiful things with her. Womp womp. So I made it my goal to recreate the same cozy cottage feel that she had perfected.
The only problem was that I was a recent college grad and had just spent every dime I had on a down payment for this house. Champagne taste on a beer budget…that was (and is) me! And that my friends, is when the thrifty decor shopper in me came to life.
9 years and 4 houses later, I’m still constantly on the hunt for pretty things that aren’t going to break the bank. If I find something I love that’s out of our price range, I’ll do my best to find the same look for less somewhere else. And that’s exactly what I’ve been working on for Kirkland’s lately. Below I’ve rounded up some great looks from across the web and compared them to similar Kirkland’s pieces, which come with much more reasonable price tags.
Arched mirrors are all the rage right now and I love the distressed farmhouse look of this one.
I have a major crush on these industrial open-faced clocks…and the price of this one sure beats the Bellacor option. Sign me up!
Not only is this mirrored cabinet $175 cheaper than it’s Wayfair look-alike, but I love the rustic look the natural wood gives too.
Lastly, how cute is this distressed spindle barstool? Even cuter when it’s half the price of similar ones!
Who else gets a thrill out of finding great looks for less?!?
